miansai leather and brass cuff...

I really like this woven leather over brass, screw cuff from MIANSAI. It's the perfect combination of sophisticated and bohemian; simple and sculptural, with just enough detail to make it interesting...

Guys will most definitely make passes at the girl who wears these glasses!

Do you ever put something away, only to realize later that you don't remember where you put it?

Here are some smart and attractive ideas for organizing and storing your things in plain sight. Why hide stuff in drawers and closets when you can create a display that is pretty as well as functional?

laurie anderson and lou reed...a beautiful relationship

Lou Reed, Velvet Underground leader and legendary rock musician, passed away on October 27. In an essay for Rolling Stone Magazine, experimental performance artist, Laurie Anderson, reflects on her 21 year relationship with Reed.

I was so moved by her touching tribute, as she talks about how they met, why they finally got married, and about their final moments together. They were best friends, partners, music collaborators, lovers and soul mates; all of the things that make for a beautiful and lasting relationship...

"lbd"

By far, the most versatile piece of clothing I've ever owned is the "lbd"; the little black dress. Timeless. Elegant. Understated. Think Holly Golightly standing in front of Tiffany's with her coffee and donut, peering longingly at the window display.

I've had dozens of lbd's. My first, and still favorite, was when I was thirteen. I'd saved my allowance money, and talked Mom into letting me go shopping on my own for a dress to wear to a party. When I came home with a lbd, she insisted that I take it back, because she felt it was too "mature." But I protested, and she eventually came around and let me keep it. It was so cute; a fitted, sheer organdy over satin mini-dress with a white lace collar and sheer "Juliet" sleeves; fitted to the elbow, then pouffed out and gathered up again at the wrists. I think the white collar was the only thing that saved me.

Lately, I've been shopping for another lbd. Here are some real contenders; well, the Stella McCartney is a little out of my budget (ok, a lot), but a girl can dream!
